Mō te tūnga | The role

The role is based in our Auckland office, with opportunity to work remotely or in any of our other national offices in Wellington and Christchurch, under our Collection Operations Umbrella.

As a Senior Analyst in our Performance and Insights team you will be informing the collection of business and household surveys across all New Zealand. Successful candidates will be responsible for business intelligence reporting at all levels, supporting our Data Collection Managers and Senior Leadership Team, as well as our General Manager and Executive Leadership Team.

You will also play a key role in the leadership of the team by mentoring the junior analysts, leading work streams and projects, and advising the technical trajectory of the team.

Our team has a continuous improvement focus ensuring our work is relevant and valuable, we use modern products to integrate our reporting across the business; including Power BI, MS SQL, Power Automate, and Salesforce.

Your key responsibilities would include:  

  • Developing and coaching Junior Analysts.
  • Internal stakeholder management.
  • Developing advanced BI reporting.
  • Developing automated and sustainable reporting.
  • Continuous improvement projects.

Starting salary:  $ 83,747 - $ 89,659 negotiable based on experience.

Mōu | About you

We are looking for a candidate with strong analytical and communication skills and strong experience in BI analytics. We are looking for you to show most of the following:

  • A passion for leadership through coaching and mentoring.
  • Ability to work independently using SQL queries and Power BI.
  • Ability to identify and lead BI initiatives through your knowledge of technology.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to interact across all levels within the organisation.
  • Quick to learn and understand new concepts.
  • Enjoys working with business leaders aiming to streamline business processes.
  • Knowledge/familiarity with or a commitment to learn/understand Te Ao Maori, including ensuring opportunities at Stats NZ reach the Maori community.
  • A university degree or equivalent experience in an analytical field (e.g., statistics, economics, sciences) would be an advantage.
